The Examination Board, under the Education Ministry, announced a new format for the Primary School Assessment Test (UPSR) starting in 2016.

“In line with the implementation of the Standard Curriculum for Primary Schools (KSSR) and complete implementation of the School Based Assessment (PBS) in addition to culturing the elements of Higher Order Thinking Skills (KBAT), a new and improved 2016 UPSR examination format will be utilised.

“However, the UPSR is still a 100% written centralised examination as in previous years,” she said at a press conference at the Education Ministry today.

“Before this, the questions are multiple choice and in the new format, there are objective (questions) with a variety of forms (fill-in-the-blanks and match the answers). We reduced multiple-choice questions and increased the variable objectives.”
